Overview
The Community Engagement and Events Officer plays an important role by providing event, project and administrative support to the Advancement Team.
Main Activities
•Event Preparation and Execution
oCoordinate and prepare space and materials necessary for Courtyard events, volunteer work parties, and other community engagement activities.
oEnsure events are executed smoothly.
oAssist in preparation for the annual Night to Unite auction. Support acquisition and management of item donations, support event planning volunteers, assist in event night execution.
oSupport Admissions with tours, outreach and other community engagement activities.
•Volunteer Liaison
oManage volunteer communications and RSVP lists for work parties
oAttend monthly PGA meetings and assist with community engagement activities as needed
•Alum Liaison
oManage four to five annual alum events including rentals, catering, invitations, attendee tracking, and execution.
oAssist in managing UCDS’s Alum Advisory board, including meeting scheduling, agenda and communication with chairs and members.
oManage alum communications including the bi-annual Alum newsletter and assist Social Media Specialist with alum content creation.
oSupport alum family engagement, cultivation and stewardship efforts
•Communications
oAssist in photographing events and classroom experiences for use in digital communications.
oAssist Social Media Specialist with creating Development and Community Engagement related content.
•Administrative Support
oMaintain Development and Admission supply inventory
oPrint and mail gift acknowledgements
•Other duties as needed.
Preparation and Knowledge
•Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field.
•Prefer two years’ experience in an event support position, preferably in a not-for-profit development office
•Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite
•Detail oriented with ability to problem solve in the moment
•Excellent verbal and written communications skills
•Ability to organize and prioritize work
•Ability to work independently with little supervision
•Excellent interpersonal skills. Passion, enthusiasm, focus, creativity, and a positive outlook.
•40 hours a week, M-F from 8am to 5pm timeframe- infrequent evening hours required for some events
